The Truth Behind the Power Scaling in WIND BREAKER
After following this series religiously, I’m convinced of one thing: there are no "fake" strong guys here.
Furin High used to be synonymous with delinquent brawling, but under the lead of Umemiya Hajime, it evolved into "Bofurin," the shield of the town.
But with the "Kunigami Taika Arc" shaking things up, legendary monsters from the past are crawling out of the woodwork.
We just witnessed the insane deathmatches between Umemiya and Takiishi, and Sakura vs. Endo.
In a battle that has transcended the typical "delinquent manga" tropes, who actually sits at the top?
Based on the latest Feats in the manga, I’ve ranked the top 25 characters with zero bias.
Let’s dive into the hierarchy of the strongest and see who truly is Goated.
How I Built This Strongest Character Ranking: 3 Key Criteria
1. Confirmed Battle Feats from the Manga
The most important factor I considered wasn't just "hype," but the cold, hard facts of who beat whom.
The latest clashes in the "Kunigami Taika Arc" have completely rewritten the previous Power scaling.
I’ve focused heavily on how characters performed against Four Heavenly Kings-level opponents.
2. Mental Fortitude and "Main Character" Buffs
In this series, a fight isn't just about fists; it's about the "core" of why you're fighting.
Mental strength often leads to explosive power that defies logic.
I’ve accounted for Sakura’s clutch awakenings and the "responsibility buff" Umemiya carries as the leader.
Strongest Character Ranking TOP 25
No. 25: Yukinari Arima
A member of Shishitoren, Arima is a delinquent who prides himself on brute power.
While he’s a bit of a bully, chasing down middle schoolers, he’s surprisingly loyal to his crew.
He suffered a humiliating one-shot defeat against Sugishita, but he’s since shown his worth by making the selection team.
His physical strength is legit, as seen when he effortlessly mops up mobs, but he lacks the speed to climb higher on this list.
No. 24: Minoru Kanuma
Arima’s partner in Shishitoren, Kanuma is a cold-hearted fighter who relies on intimidation.
He was completely clowned by Suo’s unpredictable movements during the representative battles.
He’s the type to act tough against weaklings but freezes up against absolute monsters like Togame.
Compared to the next entry, Kiryu, who uses high-level counters, Kanuma’s lack of adaptability keeps him at No. 24.
No. 23: Mitsuki Kiryu
A first-year at Furin who supposedly wiped out a whole gang of seniors back in middle school.
His style is like Aikido; he uses the enemy's momentum against them with minimal movement.
During the KEEL arc, he took down armed groups without breaking a sweat.
While he’s a technical genius like Suo, he ranks below Tsuura because pure power and stamina can sometimes negate tech.
No. 22: Taiga Tsuura
This guy lives for muscle training and fights like a pro-wrestler to hype up the crowd.
His main weapon is his insane toughness—he can take a hit from a wooden beam and keep smiling.
He has the potential to simply tank everything Kiryu throws at him and end it with a massive slam.
However, he ranks below Sugishita because Sugishita’s raw destructive power is on a different level.
No. 21: Kyotaro Sugishita
The "Vanguard" of Bofurin and a total Umemiya fanboy.
He was the only one allowed to wear the Bofurin mark before even entering high school, and his long-range strikes are devastating.
He has the explosive power to silence tanky fighters like Tsuura in seconds.
The only downside is his emotional volatility—he loses his cool way too easily.
No. 20: Hayato Suo
The mysterious boy with the eyepatch. Suo is a master of Chinese martial arts and Aikido flows.
We haven't even seen his full power yet, which is terrifying.
He hasn't taken a clean hit in the series so far, proving his defensive tech is OP.
However, as a first-year, he still sits below the wall of the second-year leaders like Kusumi.
No. 19: Yuto Kusumi
The silent guardian of the second-years who communicates through sign language.
His strength is his incredible initial speed.
During the KEEL arc, he arrived and cleared the battlefield in an instant, showing the clear gap between freshmen and sophomores.
He’s faster than Suo can react, but ranks below Enomoto due to the latter’s leadership and combat experience.
No. 18: Takeshi Enomoto
Enomoto embodies the old-school "Yankee" spirit.
If Kusumi is speed, Enomoto is weight—his strikes carry the heavy experience of a veteran.
He’s the shield for his underlings, but he previously lost to Kaji Ren in the leader selection fights.
No matter how much heart he has, he can’t stop Kaji when he goes berserk.
No. 17: Ren Kaji
The second-year leader who looks bored with his headphones but turns into a "Mad Dog" when he snaps.
His kicks are so powerful that even Shishitoren executives called him a monster.
Now that he’s found his "why" under Umemiya, he’s the undisputed king of the second-years.
But the third-year Sakaki twins at No. 16 have a dual-layer coordination that Kaji can't solo.
No. 16: Seiryu & Uryu Sakaki
The twin "Vice-Captains" of the Jikoku-shu (Third-Years).
Their strength is "unity." They move like mirror images, leaving zero openings for the enemy.
In the GRAVEL arc, they cleared the path for Tsubakino in seconds.
Together, they are close to Four Heavenly Kings level, but individual powerhouses like Sako can still break their rhythm.
No. 15: Kota Sako
A member of Shishitoren’s elite "Five Fingers" with a dark obsession with Hiiragi.
His leg strength is explosive—he literally kicked a Four Heavenly King (Hiiragi) through a wall.
His battle with Hiiragi is one of the highest-level fights in the series.
He is easily Four Heavenly King tier, but he ultimately fell to Hiiragi’s resolve.
No. 14: Shuhei Suzuri
The leader of the GRAVEL organization. He’s a genius tactician who fought to survive poverty.
His greatest gift is his "copy-cat" ability—he can instantly learn and replicate his opponent's moves.
He fought Tsubakino (a Heavenly King) to a standstill by copying his techniques on the fly.
However, he ranks below Hashirao because pure, inhuman physical violence is something you can't just "copy" instantly.
No. 13: Morishi Hashirao
A member of Noroshi with such insane strength that the wind pressure from his missed punches makes people flinch.
He toyed with Sakura and Sugishita at the same time without even getting serious.
He represents the "hopeless gap" in power for the first-years.
He only ranks below Banzjo because Banzjo is a literal masochist who gets stronger with pain.
No. 12: Kanon Banzjo
Banzjo is a battle-crazed monster who enjoys pain as a form of pleasure.
He put Kaji out of commission and traded blows equally with Hiiragi.
The fact that he smiles while taking damage completely breaks his opponents' spirits.
He’s ranked here for his tenacity, but he’s still technically below the Four Heavenly Kings' institutional rank.
No. 11: Satotaka Mizuki
The brain of the Four Heavenly Kings (Komoku-shu Leader).
He’s a military nerd whose tactical planning secured Bofurin’s victory in the Noroshi arc.
While we don't see him brawl much, his status as a founding member and his genius-level IQ put him above brawlers like Banzjo.
He could easily trap a simple fighter in a web of strategy.
No. 10: Takumi Momose
The leader of the Zojo-shu and another founding member of Bofurin.
Momose carries an aura of absolute martial dominance that makes everyone around him shiver.
In chapter 133, his performance on the front lines showed a clear "tier difference" compared to anyone below him.
However, the veteran Nakamura Kanji at No. 9 has years of experience that give him a slight edge for now.
No. 9: Kanji Nakamura
The leader of Roppo Ichiza and a legend from the generation that fought Furin in the past.
His "Strong Leg" can send grown men flying several meters with a single kick.
Chapter 123 explicitly mentions him as a Heavenly King-level threat, and even Tsubakino respects his power.
But Jo Togame (No. 8) has a combat sense that Nakamura himself recognized as "special."
No. 8: Jo Togame
The Vice-President of Shishitoren. A silent monster who smiles through every crisis.
His genius lies in reading an opponent’s center of gravity and dealing fatal damage with minimal force.
He toyed with Sakura in Vol. 5 and effortlessly crushed Hashirao in chapter 118.
He is technically superior to the Four Heavenly Kings in many ways, but Tsubakino at No. 7 combines that tech with insane speed.
No. 7: Tasuku Tsubakino
The flashy leader of Jikoku-shu. Tsubakino is a mix of high-speed strikes and lithe, whip-like muscles.
He crushed Suzuri in the GRAVEL arc, proving that even "copy-cats" can't keep up with his sheer speed and power.
He’s the closest to Umemiya in terms of raw Power scaling within Furin.
The only reason he’s at No. 7 is because Hiiragi (No. 6) has a better win record against top-tier named enemies.
No. 6: Toma Hiiragi
The "God of War" and the strongest shield of Bofurin (Tamon-shu Leader).
He can bend a metal bat with his bare hands and has an unbreakable spirit.
Defeating both Sako and Banzjo—two absolute monsters—cements him as the MVP among the Heavenly Kings.
Despite his stomach aches, his sense of responsibility makes him invincible.
No. 5: Choji Tomiyama
The President of Shishitoren. He’s a natural-born monster with infinite jumping power and reflexes.
His acrobatic movements ignore gravity, making his attacks impossible to predict.
In Vol. 6, he actually forced Umemiya—the strongest—to take a knee during their fight.
His explosive potential is higher than Tsubakino or Hiiragi, but Yamato Endo at No. 4 is a "terror" that outclasses even this.
No. 4: Yamato Endo
A legend from the old Furin. Endo is the embodiment of pure violence.
He can toy with Heavenly King-class fighters like they’re children and uses psychological warfare to break his enemies' minds.
He turned the entire town into a warzone from the shadows.
Sakura only beat him in chapter 145 because he reached a new realm of growth, meaning Endo is now the "standard" for top-tier strength.
No. 3: Haruka Sakura
Our protagonist has had the most insane character arc, evolving from a lonely outcast to a hero.
His greatest strength is his infinite growth—he absorbs his enemy's strength mid-fight.
Beating Endo, a man feared by the Four Heavenly Kings, proves Sakura is now in the elite tier.
With his friends as his mental anchor, his potential is limitless, but he still hasn't surpassed the absolute wall that is Takiishi Chika.
No. 2: Chika Takiishi
The leader of Noroshi. Alongside Umemiya, he created the legend of Furin High.
His strength is pure, illogical destruction that transcends theory.
His final showdown with Umemiya starting in chapter 146 was the most intense fight in the series' history.
He was the one person Umemiya could never truly "beat" in the past, making him a true peak of the series.
No. 1: Hajime Umemiya
The President of Bofurin. He isn't just the strongest fighter; he’s the ultimate leader who united a broken town.
He solidified his No. 1 spot by defeating Takiishi Chika in their legendary final clash around chapter 150.
Whether it’s one-shotting Tomiyama with a headbutt or outlasting Takiishi’s insane strikes, his stamina and resolve are godly.
Umemiya is the ceiling of the WIND BREAKER world. Period.
Conclusion: Who Is Truly Goated?
This list shows that in WIND BREAKER, strength comes from the weight of your convictions.
The guys at the top—Umemiya and Sakura—carry the town and their friends on their backs, and that’s what gives them that extra gear.
Bofurin isn't just a gang; they're heroes.
Who do you think is the strongest? Did I place your favorite character too low?
The debate is only getting hotter as we head into the endgame!
Thanks for reading, and let’s keep watching their souls clash!
