Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Strongest Character Ranking TOP 20
No. 20: Sense
A First-Class Mage of the Continental Magic Association and a notorious proctor for the exams.
Sense’s strength lies in her incredible control over her hair, which is heavily imbued with mana.
Each strand acts as a lethal spear capable of piercing defensive magic or as an iron wall that blocks almost any counterattack.
She effortlessly diffuses average First-Class Mages, showing a massive gap in experience and raw talent.
However, she sits at 20 because of a fatal matchup flaw against Ubel at No. 19.
In a world where "visualization" is everything, Ubel simply perceives hair as something meant to be cut, rendering Sense's absolute defense useless.
No. 19: Ubel
The resident problem child of the First-Class Mage exams who wields "Sauseitai" (Cleaving Magic).
Ubel isn't scary because of her mana scale; she's scary because of her twisted mindset.
If she can "imagine" cutting it, she will cut it, regardless of the target's magical durability.
This allowed her to bypass Sense’s high-level hair defense without a second thought.
She also has a high combat IQ, capable of copying the magic of those she empathizes with.
But she hits a wall against Eisen at No. 18.
Eisen’s physical presence is so overwhelming that it doesn't even leave room for her to imagine a "clean cut" before he crushes her with raw physical force.
No. 18: Eisen
The warrior of the Hero Party and a "Living Legend" with the superhuman durability of the Dwarf race.
The man can crush diamonds with his bare hands and shrug off a fall from a terminal velocity heights as just "a bit painful."
For a mage, he is a walking nightmare.
Even tricky mages like Ubel lose their composure when faced with a warrior who simply refuses to die or stop moving.
In his prime, he was feared by the Demon King's generals as the world's strongest warrior.
He ranks below Denken only because the old mage has the experience to keep distance and use high-density attrition magic like "Catastravia" to eventually wear down even a body as tough as Eisen's.
No. 17: Denken
An Imperial Mage who survived the blood-soaked corridors of political power.
Denken's true value isn't just in his firepower, but in his gritty, real-world combat experience.
He doesn't just trade spells; he analyzes weaknesses and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty in a fistfight if his mana runs dry.
His mental resilience during the encounter with Macht's memories was incredible.
He lands at 17 because he is slightly edged out by Lerne's precision.
Lerne's ability to perceive the "unsteadiness" in mana concealment gives him a slight technical advantage in a high-level mage duel.
No. 16: Lerne
A First-Class Mage and the first apprentice of the legendary Serie.
Serie describes his strength as "caution born of cowardice," but that caution allows him to see things no one else can.
He was the only one to notice the slight fluctuation in Frieren's suppressed mana.
His precision with golems allows for multi-angled attacks that catch even veteran mages off guard.
Managing to wound Frieren, even via a surprise attack, cements his status at the top of human mages.
However, against a brute-force demon like Revolte at No. 15, Lerne’s technical precision gets overwhelmed by sheer mass and speed.
No. 15: Revolte the Divine Technique
A Demon General and a master of the four-sword style.
He combines high-level swordsmanship with magic that manipulates the mass of his blades.
A human mage’s defensive barrier is like wet tissue paper against his "Divine Technique" strikes that can shatter mountains.
Fighting Stark and Genau simultaneously and nearly killing both is a testament to his status as a General.
He falls short of Aura because of her absolute "win condition."
While Revolte fights a dirty battle with swords, Aura's "Auzeryuse" (Scales of Obedience) instantly enslaves anyone with less mana, making his skill set irrelevant if his mana pool is smaller.
No. 14: Aura the Guillotine
One of the Seven Sages of Destruction who spent over 500 years refining her mana.
Her magic, "Auzeryuse," compares her mana to her opponent's on a scale; the winner gains absolute control over the loser's body.
She is the ultimate "low-tier killer."
Against a warrior like Revolte, she’d likely just order him to decapitate himself before he could get within range.
She only ranks here because of her loss to Himmel.
In the past, Himmel’s sheer speed and "logic-defying" sword strokes meant she had to spend 80 years in hiding just to survive his lifespan.
No. 13: Hero Himmel
The leader of the party that defeated the Demon King and a symbol of human hope.
He wasn't a mage, but his swordsmanship and situational awareness were god-tier.
He intimidated Aura into an 80-year hiding streak and broke through Bose's barrier with pure physical force.
Even inside Grausam’s mental illusions, Himmel’s resolve was so OP that he remained a "Hero" even in his dreams and cut the demon down.
However, he couldn't have defeated Bose alone; he needed Frieren's analysis to crack the magic logic.
Because Bose represents a magical wall that no physical warrior can bypass solo, the demon takes the higher spot.
No. 12: Bose the Immortal
A member of the Seven Sages and a master of barrier magic that was considered unbreakable by human standards.
His barrier blocks all physical and magical attacks, creating a hopeless prison for his enemies.
Himmel himself was trapped and had to wait for Frieren to analyze the spell, proving Bose's absolute defensive advantage.
He is a wall of stability among demons.
He ranks below Qual because Bose is purely defensive, while Qual's "Zoltraak" was a revolutionary offensive spell that destroyed the very concept of human defensive magic.
No. 11: Qual the Elder of Corruption
A genius among demons and the creator of "Zoltraak" (Killing Magic).
His true horror isn't just his firepower, but his insane adaptability.
He can analyze an opponent's spell at a glance and improve his own magic in seconds to counter it.
The Hero Party could only seal him because they couldn't find a way to kill him 80 years ago.
However, he was defeated by Frieren because modern magic was literally built on his research.
Frieren spent 80 years perfecting the counter to his life's work, making his No. 11 spot a result of being "out-teched" by history.
No. 10: Frieren
Known as "Frieren the Slayer," she has killed more demons than anyone in history.
Her strength comes from 1,000 years of accumulated knowledge and her master Flamme’s signature "Mana Concealment."
She is a master of the long game, baiting demons into underestimating her before delivering a finishing blow.
She is arguably the strongest human-side mage in active combat.
Yet, she struggled immensely against Solitär.
Solitär’s raw mana output and her cold, analytical nature—which assumes mages are hiding their true power—allowed her to pressure Frieren in a way few ever could.
No. 9: Solitär
An unnamed Great Demon who researched humanity and systematically eliminated everyone she ever met to keep her existence a secret.
Her mana control rivals Frieren’s, but she lacks the typical demon trait of "pride" or "carelessness."
She can manifest physical swords and fire compressed mana blasts that shatter Frieren's defenses head-on.
She can hold a casual conversation with Macht, the strongest of the Sages, proving she's in a league of her own.
She ranks below Macht only because his "Di Agolze" is an unavoidable, conceptual "curse" that even Solitär can't easily parse without research.
No. 8: Macht of El Dorado
Considered the strongest of the Seven Sages of Destruction, Macht wields "Di Agolze," magic that turns anything and everything into gold.
It cannot be blocked by traditional defensive magic.
Once cast, even Frieren couldn't find a way to reverse it for 600 years.
His swordsmanship is also top-tier, crushing Denken’s defenses with the sheer weight of gold particles.
He ranks at 8 because Grausam’s mental magic is a hard counter.
Before Macht can even visualize turning Grausam to gold, Grausam can trap him in a "happy dream," erasing his will to fight entirely.
No. 7: Grausam the Miraculous
A Sage of Destruction with the most terrifying mental magic in the series.
His magic blurs the line between reality and illusion, showing targets their deepest desires.
Even Macht avoided fighting him.
He is the ultimate support and psychological assassin.
He falls behind Flamme because she is the "Origin of Modern Magic."
Flamme built the theory for killing demons from scratch and possessed mental control techniques specifically designed to see through demonic illusions.
No. 6: Flamme
The legendary mage from the Mythical Age who laid the groundwork for all human magic.
Her genius wasn't just in mana volume, but in the tactical invention of mana suppression to deceive demons.
Her spells from 1,000 years ago are still considered top-tier today.
She ranks below Schlacht because of his "Omniscience."
Schlacht can see 1,000 years into the future.
No matter how perfect Flamme’s strategy is, Schlacht has already seen the branching paths of fate and can steer the world toward a "checkmate" for demons before the fight even starts.
No. 5: Schlacht the Omniscient
The Demon King’s confidant who can see a millennium into the future.
His strength isn't in a flashy fireball; it's in his ability to ensure the prosperity of the demon race by predicting every possible move his enemies make.
During his battle with the Hero of the South, he accepted his own death just to secure a future victory for his race. That’s cold-blooded tactical perfection.
He is surpassed by Kraft because Kraft is an anomaly from the Mythical Age.
Kraft’s sheer experience as an Elf Monk spans so many millennia that his physical prowess likely exceeds what a "Future Sight" spell can reasonably predict and dodge.
No. 4: Kraft
An Elf Monk who supposedly saved the world in the Mythical Age.
His strength is the result of unfathomable years dedicated to nothing but physical and mental training.
His movement speed and power are at a level where even if you see him coming, you can't stop him.
He has reached the pinnacle of "Martial Arts" that transcends magical interference.
Frieren treats him with immense respect, which says everything about his Power Level.
He ranks below the Hero of the South because the latter achieved the "impossible" feat of wiping out half of the Seven Sages in a single battle.
No. 3: Hero of the South
Humanity's strongest hero who took on all Seven Sages of Destruction and Schlacht at the same time.
Using his own future sight, he managed to take down three Sages and Schlacht before falling.
This is the single greatest feat of combat in the entire Lore.
If Kraft is "static" perfection, the Hero of the South is "dynamic" explosive power.
He only ranks below the Demon King because he ultimately couldn't reach the King himself, who ruled over all these monsters for over 1,000 years.
No. 2: The Demon King
The ruler of all demons for over a millennium.
He reduced the human population by two-thirds and ruled the Sages of Destruction—monsters capable of destroying nations—through absolute authority.
While much of his power is still shrouded in mystery, the fact that it took the Hero Party ten years of desperate struggle to defeat him speaks to his status as a disaster-level entity.
He ranks No. 2 only because he couldn't "visualize" a world of peace.
Serie, on the other hand, is a being who has mastered every spell in history and views the Demon King's era as just a passing phase.
No. 1: Serie
The founder of the Continental Magic Association and a "Living Legend" from the Mythical Age.
Her mana, even when suppressed, dwarfs Frieren’s total capacity. When she gets serious, her aura alone feels like it could rewrite reality.
She is effectively the "God of Magic."
She could have defeated the Demon King at any time but simply didn't because she believed peace would stagnate the progress of magic.
In the Empire Arc, her reaction speed and spell mastery are portrayed as flawless.
In a world where "magic is the world of visualization," someone who knows every spell and can realize any phenomenon is invincible.
She is undeniably the OP character of the franchise.
Conclusion: The Empire Arc Will Shake Up This Strongest Character Ranking!
So, what do you guys think? Serie taking the top spot is pretty much undisputed in the current Lore.
But I really want to emphasize the "Future Sight" tier like the Hero of the South and Schlacht—their impact on the world's history is massive.
Keep an eye on the Shadow Warriors like Lowe and Walros in the Empire Arc. They haven't shown their full power yet, but their ability to negate magic could see them crashing into the TOP 10 very soon.
How would you rank them? Let me know your personal TOP 5 in the comments!
